Find a Solution for Your Oral Health Issues
No one wants to have surgery on the mouth, but it may be needed to give you long-term oral health. Our doctor can perform a variety of procedures at Blue Mountain Dental Care to save you the time and expense of seeing an oral surgeon.
You can come to us for any of these services:
- Tooth Removal – You may need a tooth or teeth taken out. We can perform many extractions, including wisdom teeth removals, at our office.
- Bone Grafts – To get dental implants, you need to have sufficient bone mass in your jaw. If you don’t, you can get a bone graft or similar procedure, such as a ridge augmentation. These treatments build up your jaw so it can support implants.
- Sinus Lifts – This procedure is performed in your upper jaw, so you can get implants there.
- Gum Grafts – If your gums have receded, a gum graft can repair your gumline.
- Gum Contouring – Too much gum tissue may cover teeth in certain parts of your mouth. You can make those teeth more visible by removing that excess periodontal tissue.

Tooth extraction is often needed if a tooth is too damaged to repair or if it is damaging your other teeth. In some cases, you need to have teeth removed to make room for dentures or another dental restoration. If necessary, we’ll recommend a bone graft to ensure your jaw is strong enough to support dental implants.
After your oral surgery, you should not exercise at all for the first 24 hours. Doing too much too soon can increase your healing time. For example, strenuous exercise can loosen the blood clot on an extraction site and cause a painful condition known as dry socket. After the first day, limit your exercise to low-impact activities for several more days to prevent complications.
The type of oral surgery you have will ultimately determine how much discomfort you feel, but rest assured our goal is always to provide the most comfortable dental care we can. For most of the oral surgery procedures we perform, over-the-counter pain relievers will take care of any discomfort. If needed, your dentist can prescribe something stronger to help you through the healing process.
